Because children are growing and learning, they need to be taken care of and protected by adults. This can mean many things: parents can protect their children by holding their hand as they cross the road or saying no when the child asks for an unhealthy drink. They can take care of them by making dinner and providing a quiet place for them to sleep. Parents make sure kids go to school and to the doctor if they need to. If parents are not fulfilling their responsibility, then someone else will.
